Walton Plastics Engineering offers 6 Monthly and 12 Monthly Compliance Testing of Fume Cupboards in accordance with AS2243.8 and AS2243.9 Safety in Laboratories.
All service and maintenance works are carried out by our fully trained service technicians, with the backup of our experienced engineers.
Reports are issued on completion of testing. Minor maintenance is carried out during the test, and any additional maintenance requirement not able to be completed as part of the compliance test will be listed in the report issued upon completion.
Walton Plastics Engineering’s technicians carry a small array of parts which if required for repairs can be completed during the service with only the part being at an additional charge. Repairs requiring parts will only be completed on approval.
The items conducted as part of the compliance test are listed below as a minimum. This has been extracted from AS2243.8.
Six Monthly Maintenance & Testing Includes:
1. Face velocity test
2. Smoke test.
3. Inspection of fans, motors, drives, and bearings.
◦ Bearings lubricated if required
◦ Belts changed if required
4. Check scrubbers and wash down facilities for correct operation.
5. Check the air cleaning device if fitted.
6. Check the condition of thermal heads and duct sprays if fitted.
7. Remove baffles & clean back of fume cupboard chamber and baffles.
Annual Maintenance & Testing Includes:
1. All checks as for 6 monthly.
2. Wash the entire internal surface of the fume cupboard cabinet and repair defects.
3. Check condition of services to fume cupboard and ensure they are properly identified & operational.
4. Check stability & condition of discharge stack.
5. Check the condition of exhaust ducting where possible. Check that joints are intact and drains where fitted are clear.
6. Check condition of satisfactory operation of fume cupboard control system.
7. Check operation of emergency isolator.
8. Check operation of automatic isolator.
9. Check system for conformance to AS2243.8.
10. Attach label to fume cupboard showing inspection date, name of inspector & report number, overall test result and date of next inspection.
All compliance test reports are checked by an engineer prior to completion.
